Clowning: A Window to the Soul.

SERIOUSLY PLAYFUL

Mercedes and Paul make a dynamic duo.

There’s something profoundly transformative about clowning—it’s more than just red noses and oversized shoes. Clowning strips us down to our most authentic selves, revealing the soul beneath the layers of societal expectations. It’s a reminder that life, at its core, is meant to be taken both seriously and playfully. This balance was beautifully demonstrated during the recent Clowning Workshop hosted by Seriously Playful at Community House Bromley.

Led by the incredible Marina Sossi, an international performer celebrated for her unique style and teaching methods, the workshop brought together seasoned clowns and newcomers alike. Marina's approach created a safe space for exploration, vulnerability, and joy. Through her guidance, participants discovered how clowning isn't just about comedy—it's a profound exercise in authenticity, connection, and self-expression.

The energy in the room was electric. Quest members (affectionately called "Questies") joined in with gusto, laughing freely and wholeheartedly. The laughter was more than surface-level amusement; it was the kind that springs from genuine, uninhibited human connection. It reminded us all how rare and beautiful it is to truly let go of our guards and embrace the moment with childlike wonder.

Clowning, as Marina showed us, can impact everyday life in powerful ways. By embracing the vulnerability of play, we learn to face the world with a lighter heart and a deeper understanding of ourselves. It teaches resilience, as clowns fall and rise again with grace. It fosters empathy, as clowns connect with others by reflecting shared truths and emotions. Above all, it encourages us to see life through a lens of curiosity and joy.

The day left everyone inspired and uplifted, with one resounding conclusion: Marina's workshop was unmissable. Thankfully, there’s talk of her returning next year, and we’re hopeful that even more people will join in this magical experience. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a curious beginner, there’s something to gain from this art form that touches the soul.

So why not take the leap next time and explore the world of clowning? You may just find that the laughter and lessons stay with you long after the workshop ends, enriching your everyday life in ways you never expected.

Stay tuned for updates on Marina's return. Trust us—it’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss!
